One of the quickest and easiest ways to improve the appearance of a person’s teeth is through composite bonding. The treatment consists of using tooth-colored resin to repair teeth that have experienced damage or decay, while also enhancing their overall look.
There are many applications of composite bonding, including:
- Filling cavities
- Restoring damaged or decayed teeth
- Making color adjustments
- Reducing noticeable gaps
- Adjusting tooth lengths
- Fixing misshapen teeth
- Protecting tooth roots
In most cases, composite bonding can be completed in just one visit to our practice. The process is started by first removing any decay or deterioration that is present on the tooth. Next, a shade of resin that provides the teeth with a healthy and natural appearance is selected. This resin is directly applied to the tooth in multiple layers and then hardened using a special dental curing light.
Once the desired level of thickness has been attained, the resin is allowed to fully dry, so it reaches the proper consistency. The tooth will then be buffed and polished, so it achieves a natural appearance. With proper maintenance, a composite bonding should last between five and ten years.
